Beach Excursions

Rickett's Point
School Beach Excursions
Beaumaris, Victoria

Looking for a beach excursion around Melbourne for your preschool or primary school?
During first and fourth terms of each school year, Andrew Wegener will meet your kindergarten or primary school group at Rickett's Point, (in Port Philip Bay), and conduct a day of coastal studies activities.

The day (10.00am to 2.00pm) includes a sealife display, discussion about animal identification, safety, food-chains and the human impact on the ecosystem, then 'hands-on' exploring of inter-tidal zones & rockpool life.
Andrew explains what creatures should not be touched, the names and characteristics of animals that are likely to be seen, how to safely observe animals.

Themes for this discussion can be adapted to suit the Learning Focus of your school.

Identification charts are provided to each teacher and adult supervisor of every group.

ALL LIVE ANIMALS ARE OBSERVED AND LEFT IN THEIR HABITAT.

The content and activities of each session are adapted to suit the age group of the students.
